I find in the new characters that inhabit today’s urban scene a certain dignity, elegance in their movements, in the manner they use the space they occupy, and a certain beauty in the sound of their words and in their garb.
Not only have they created a new iconography, but also a sophisticated style with which they put together a marvelous mise en scène.
There is something fresh and energizing in them as well as an enigma. Are they a legion of angelic beings dressed eclectically and haphazardly? Are they pointing to a new road to follow?
I have painted series of portraits imbued by the magnetism that emanates from these street strollers. In the pictorial aspect, I describe them with sobriety and with an economy of resources, with classic backgrounds and sometimes monochromatic ones. I allow to emerge the inner being of each character that resides in that subtle world of contrasting forms that I perceive in each one of these characters.
