Beverly

A creative artist since 1966, Beverly's early works included commissioned portraits in pastels, oils and a brief affair sculpting. She attended college and earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Statistics before completing her course work towards a Masters in Mathematics. After a long stint raising her family while working in the computer industry, serving 20 years in the Coast Guard and starting/running an industrial video production company for 15 years, she retired.  She was then inspired by the sale of several pieces sculpted in college, to return to her first passion and devote all of her time to sculpting.

Initially self-taught in the traditional style of drawing, in 2005 Beverly began studying figurative sculpting. She studied for two years in Costa Mesa at Orange Coast College and two years at the Irvine Fine Arts Center in Irvine, California. She then furthered her education by taking numerous workshops with prestigious instructors including Philippe Faraut of New York.

In 2009 Beverly was invited to teach portrait sculpture classes for the Irvine Fine Arts Center in Irvine, California, until June of 2011. At that time she moved to Brentwood and began exhibiting her work at various local venues. Her bronze sculpture “Ballerine Reposant,” won Second Place in 3-D art at the Pittsburg Arts Collaborative Impulse Gallery’s 2012 Winter Art Exhibition.

The thrill of capturing in clay the emotions and personality of the entire human form is central to Beverly's passion in sculpting and teaching sculptural workshops. Her fascination with the human face and body combined with her creative ability for storytelling, enables her to sculpt thought provoking, energetic compositions with classic techniques and traditional fine art mastery.
