Statement

Who is Snapple?

Everyone is asking, 'Who is Snapple?' It's a secret. Mysterious. Snapple is a young woman who wishes to remain anonymous and – despite the fact that she never attended a drawing or painting class, let alone an academy of art – copies in detail famous masterpieces of art history in exquisite pastels and then adds a unique twist: so Jan Vermeers Girl with the Pearl Earring mutates into a punk girl wearing a nose ring and a piercing, Gerhard Richter's Betty, an icon of contemporary art, is crowned with a gloriole, and the most popular pussy in painting history, The Origin of the World by Gustave Courbet, is in Snapple's version adorned with a Pussy Riot tattoo. Maybe Snapple, who by the way never exhibited before we discovered her, develops into the female counterpart of Banksy…
