> STATEMENT

 

Stephanie Mercado is a Los Angeles based Painter and Printmaker. Her work is often compared to Tim Burton, Edward Gorey, and William Hogarth due its dark, yet charming qualities and faint sense of humor. Focusing on absurdity, the theatrical, and the grotesque she explores circus culture and utilizes caricatures as a metaphor for life in Los Angeles and the foibles of human nature.
