ECOLOGICALLY PERFECT PICTURES

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I worked in the fashion business for the next twenty-five years. My jobs as photo stylist for Macy's, and editor-in-chief of Simplicity patterns indulged my love of color, texture and design.

I left the City for the CT shoreline, close to where I spent every summer as a child.

I planted my first gardens, and reluctant to see the flowers die,  learned to press, using large books, wooden screwdown presses, and finally, a microwave press. I made cards at first, and they grew into pictures

When I was young, I drew masterpieces on  the sandbars with a stick, and wove seaweed in my hair, pretending to be a mermaid.

 Could I press seaweed? It  became my next challenge.

Now you can see me Summer and Winter, wandering the tidelines, searching for the perfect peices to put into my pail. Who ever knew what colors  lurked beneath the sea? Pressing seaweed is arduous, but the results are worth it.

I live on the shoreline. There is room to plant flowers, plus my neighbors on both sides have mature gardens with the most incredible poppies, peonies, clematis and more .

 When I am in my studio, working on a picture, the world disappears. I use my hands, but I create with my heart.
