Nix Toxic
Experimentalism is a constant characteristic in the work of Nix Toxic. This American artist has been roaming in the universe of art for over twenty years, accumulating an extensive production in various mediums. Her most recent work has a mix of experience and novelty to it, dissolved into poetic experiments with alternative supports and materials produced by herself — from flexiglass to metal, from acrylic fiber to the traditional canvas.
Her translucent paintings evoke colors from the 60s pop art, mixed with the subversive graphics of Basquiat, the unconventional supports of Banksy and the fragmented compositions of stencil mural paintings. Her iconography directly references mass culture, although the constant presence of "Ten", the skeleton kitty, renders its due tribute to street art and Japanese animation art. All of that urban and timeless feel has granted this girl-scientist of aesthetics a deserved place in the downwards spiral of contemporary art.
