Statement

The Crucible is a non-profit educational facility that fosters a collaboration of Arts, Industry and Community. Through training in the fine and industrial arts, The Crucible promotes creative expression, reuse of materials, and innovative design while serving as an accessible arts venue for the general public.

Classes in welding, blacksmithing, foundry, woodworking, glass, kinetics, neon, jewelry and more are taught at all levels.  We provide a valuable resource to both the arts community and our neighbors and youth in Oakland.  Our fundraising events are legendary for being wildly innovative, blending the fine and performing arts with fire and industrial arts to create ballets, operas, and other amazing collaborative events.
