Statement
Born in 1992 and at the forefront of Japan’s Social Networking Service illustration boom in 2010, ob brought the movement’s many developing factions from the internet to the street by organizing a series of group shows at alternative art spaces. At the mere age of 19, she was responsible for the formation of the prominent Kansai art collective “wassyoi”, the name for which is taken from the chant used by revelers in Japan’s seasonal festivals. Now age 20, after several solo exhibitions in 2011, she has developed into an extremely active contemporary artist, one of the most prominent young artists in Japan.
