Max began writing for ArtSlant Berlin in June 2012. In June 2013 he joined the editorial team as Assistant Editor. Max graduated in 2013 with a B.A. in English Literature and German Studies from Swarthmore College, where he served as the Co-Editor in Chief of Swarthmore's newspaper, The Daily Gazette. He wrote his thesis - "Strukturwandel der öffentlichen Kunst: Untersuchung einer Online-Street Art" - on Berlin street art and the emergence of online media as a rupture in the way artists enter the public sphere. Max was awared a Fulbright Research Grant for 2013-14 to Berlin, Germany where he'll pursue independent research on public art as a means of negotiating identity and community in multiethnic spaces. Max can also make fire using a bow-drill.
