With gender and sexuality, there is an undeniable relationship between biology and culture and I am interested in the potential and limits of these two forces. I am also exploring the ways in which desire and objectification are inter‐related through power structures. Although the subjects in my work are people, places and objects that I know intimately, they are employed for their ability to act as a reflection of these themes. Sometimes, to accentuate the mirage of gender performance, additional choreography and costume are utilized. I seek to complicate and expand discussions of gender and sexuality rather than provide simple answers and new essentialisms.
