Exploring diverse lands and delving into exotic cultures the world over, Jill Lena Ford’s travels have led her to develop her own style of abstract art; a style she calls “Organic Mixed Media”. This unique form of painting is characterized by the use of sand, shells, stones, leaves and other natural materials found around the world in combination with acrylic and oil paints.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native earned a Bachelor of Fine Art with a painting major in 2001 and a Masters degree in Art Education in 2006 from Northern Arizona University. Her works have been shown in galleries and exhibitions held throughout the country, and her murals have featured internationally in Belize, Indonesia, Laos, Morocco and Thailand. Her numerous awards for artistic achievement include 'Best of Show', 'People's Choice', 'Top Notch Award', and 'Pittsburgh's Featured Artist' at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Jill has shared her talents by teaching and developing community art programs at various art schools and non-profit centers in both Arizona and Pennsylvania. She has also devoted her time to social activism and community enrichment, working as a mentor through the arts to at-risk youth and developing and facilitating community art projects using recycled materials.
Jill lives on the magical Hawaiian island of Kauai where she creates art, embraces the beauty of nature, and continues to allow her endless stream of creative energy to flow freely into her art and the world around her. If you can’t find her there, she is probably out trekking the globe in search of new inspiration
