Michelle Chong was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. She studied Photography and Environmental Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle and received her BFA in 2004. She attended Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and received her MFA in 2006. She is currently attending Antioch University in Los Angeles, pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Psychology.
Chong lives and works in Los Angeles. She is a visual artist and curator. Her conceptual practice engages photography, digital media, installation, and text into various projects.
Collaboration is a reoccurring theme in Chong’s practice. She is the Founder and Director of a small curatorial project called Short House. Under this collective notion, Chong organizes international exhibitions, workshops and performances. Starting in Los Angeles and expanding to Europe, Short House focuses on multidisciplinary exchange.
