Statement

As a child, I experienced materials such as bone and rusted wire in the context of narrative, I now work within the human context using both implied references and spatial approximations usually with more of a structural rather than fluids emphesis. While I find a long and sometimes contentious tradition in art for working with the figure (from “Venus” figures and pictographs to performance art) I also work with ideas and abstract forms--choosing materials that are project specific.  I balance the two aproaches by starting with whichever seems the best fit for the idea or form and working toward the other if necessary.
