Lyle Allan is a New York photographer who has worked exclusively with alternative processes since 1981. After completing his graduate work at Arizona State University in Mathematics, he joined the Aperture Foundation where he worked with the Paul Strand Archive. He is currently concentrating on platinum/palladium printing and has developed, along with Lorraine Anne Davis, the “Process Project”, an educational tool for appraisers and collectors to help illustrate the differences and similarities of historical as well as digital print making. Allan is a contributing editor to the forthcoming Photograph Collector’s Guide.
