Grace Vane Percy

Internationally recognised London based art photographer Grace Vane Percy specialises in artistic Female Nude Portraiture. Her unique, feminine portraits focus on the beauty of the female form, are inspired by her fine art training. She has been featured in many magazines and online reviews. The Financial Times comments “Vane Percy’s approach is resolutely artistic” reflecting her training at the Charles Cecil studios in Florence as a classical artist working mainly in charcoal. This has also influenced her comprehension of anatomy, and the strong sense of chiaroscuro, which is visible in her current work. Through her work she captures and immortalises a wide array of women in the tradition of the artistic nude. “I work within the classical tradition of the nude, aiming to produce nude portraits that are Fine Art not simply naked photographs; a glorification of the body”. Grace works exclusively on Black & White, medium format film and all her prints are gallery standard, archival silver bromide prints, handprinted in London by a master printer who also currently works for the Getty Archive. Many of her large scale prints have been incorporate in home interiors throughout Europe and the US. She studied History of Art at the Courtauld Institute and Fashion photography and darkroom techniques at Central St. Martin's, London, before going on to study fine art and the techniques of the Old Masters in Florence, she sees her work as directly influenced by classical art as well as the work of mid 19th Century English and 1930’s Czech and European photographers. Her work was internationally recognised, when, in 2004 Grace was invited to join the ‘Women In Photography’ Archive, Yale.
