COLLEEN FLAHERTY
Colleen Flaherty’s artwork intuitively coalesces the contemporary concern for urban, scientific and biological phenomena in a fresh way. Her work is a prescription for understanding the unknown. She has the ability and insight to tie the modern zeitgeist to ancient markings.
From chunky totems of raw wood to charcoal lines, from oil paint to spray-paint, and from snake sheddings to beeswax, this emerging artist explores the microcosms of nature; influenced by land formations from sky view, and nature’s patterns, she weaves urban landscape with what still persists and struggles up through the concrete. Her work examines map patterns, landscapes, animal prints preserving the memory of the ephemeral and reminding us of the power that nature will always have.
Colleen Flaherty currently lives and works in Oakland, CA.
