Shy Pacheco Hamilton was born in the United States. She is a creole woman - her people are African, Native, Spanish and French.  She is an Afro- Surrealist Expressionist artist. Her work is interdisciplinary and currently consists of film, writing, installation and glitch. Her work tends to reflect upon liminality, the here and now and how oppressed folks get free. She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts and an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Shy has exhibited her videos both in the US and internationally. She enjoys making gumbo, perfecting her dirty martini recipe and thrift stores. And for the record, Shy is not shy.
