Kieran Collins

Kieran Collins is a contemporary painter who's work explores physical and psychological notions of the liminal space.   Greatly inspired by the written works of Arnold Van Gennep, the ethnographer and author "Rites of Passage,"  her most recent series considers the comparative role of transition and symbology across cultural and temporal contexts.  Collins is interested in the ambiguous nature of the liminal period- the stage "in-between" formative states-and the parallels present in the physical and pychosociological world.  The artist explores these ideas in her architectural and figurative paintings on both panel and cubic substrates.

The artist works and resides in San Francisco, California.
