Influenced by 20th century geometric abstraction, particularly the Bauhaus school of design, David Senouf brings together his interest for abstraction, geometry, and mathematics, into a purely visual medium through drawing and acrylic paints.
Using a unique free-handed drawing technique, David manages to draw remarkable curves, using the mathematical concepts of curve parallelism and asymptotes. These free-handed curves are complemented by a set of limited line segments and circular arcs. He then applies ultra-precise and smooth painting strokes, to create a harmonious universe of well-formed shapes.
The artist conquers the canvas space through a well thought out and measured expression which creates an equilibrium of surfaces, a duality of cold and warm colors, separated by precise curves. The abstract motif is perfectly structured, from which emanates a deeply balanced aplat painting, reminiscent of architectural constructs.
David offers the viewer a unique 21st century window into the mind of a mathematician appealing to the timeless, universal, unconscious, perfection of pure geometry.
