In my abstract paintings I am currently exploring the way that texture, colour, shape and mark making can suggest personal energy paths and histories. There is a fragmenting and deconstruction of form to show a kind of shattered effect. Shards of matter pull apart yet seem to swirl and reconfigure into new formations of meaning and focus. Visual references to elements such as fire, water, rock and cloud are used to suggest extreme emotional dilemmas or resolutions.
The strongly textured surfaces and bold primary colours help suggest strong emotion and give a sense of upheaval and transition.
