Marc Standing

I was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1976 and attended the University of Cape Town in South Africa. After obtaining my degree I spent a little time in Europe before immigrating to Australia in 2005. I became an Australian citizen in 2007. Between 2007 and 2011 I was represented by Brenda May Gallery in Sydney. 

From childhood I have always had an innate compulsion to paint. No matter where I am in the world I am inspired by the textures, colors, and images around me. The subject matter in my practice is drawn from a personal experience and touches upon themes regarding identity, displacement, and our human fragility.
