I grew up in Oregon, received a Ph. D. in physics from the University of Colorado, and taught physics and astronomy for thirty years at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. I retired from teaching at the end of the 2006 season.
In 2008 I started painting seriously. I paint in a classical realism style from photograph I have taken mostly during my travels around the world with my wife.
My paintings have been exhibited continuously since 2009 at the Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts Gallery in Binghamton, NY, have been in their annual Group Shows in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and a Solo Show in 2010. I have also exhibited paintings at the Viviana Hansen Gallery, Delhi, NY.
I have had paintings accepted and in some cases receive awards at the following juried shows:
- 2011 76th Annual National Juried Exhibition at the Cooperstown Art Association, where one piece won the Grand Prize and another the Viewers’ Choice Award
- 2010 Mansion Regional Juried Art Show, Arts Council of Oneonta, NY
- 2011 75th Annual National Juried Exhibition at the Cooperstown Art Association
- 2009 Mansion Regional Juried Art Show, Arts Council of Oneonta, NY, where one piece won the Grand Prize
- 2009 74th Annual National Juried Exhibition, Cooperstown Art Association, Cooperstown, NY, where one piece won a Jurist Citation
