just a bit okay.
frequently, i am blessed with visceral dreams of composing works of art. whether semi-awake, or the subconscious fully conducting, i create brush strokes, pencil-marks and apply copious amounts of paint in color-fields as lush as green meadows and as muted as forgotten prairie winds. evoking intuition as a semi-conductor, i weave into the tapestry— day residue, past, present, and future experiences. let us not forget love, interactions, perceptions, simple complexities, raw emotions and life. inevitably, i wake, slightly buzzed, confused and impassioned. but to my dismay, the painting could not be found— the reality in the dream: a single insight to many of my impetuses to create. off i go ready to capture that magic.
The physicality of a painting brush strokes, pencil-marks and apply copious amounts of paint in color-fields as lush as green meadows and as muted as forgotten prairie winds. evoking intuition as a semi-conductor, i weave into the tapestry— day residue, past, present, and future experiences. let us not forget love, interactions, perceptions, simple complexities, raw emotions and life. Inevitably
like water running over one’s face, i paint because i have to. but it is no malady for me. it is my way of life.
i strive to capture the nuances and idiosyncrasies of life. from the simple edge, crack and texture in elements of nature to the people hunkered over iphones and digital devices while, say, on a boat cruising down the potomac river with the birds abound.
mixing in emotions, love, aversion, ambivalence, hope, animosity and serenity. wrestling with alligators, specters and elephants. i turn chaos into clarity and finally stop when it has reached it’s apex. and then, promptly turn it around or take it via-bicycle 5-states east and hand it to max sitting on his porch drinking lemonade and sucking at a 5th on the sly—
so i’ve been doing this for over 15 years. I am mostly self-taught and consider myself within the realm of outsider art— perhaps even outside of that. I have participated in group shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Currently, I am residing in Las Vegas, NV and doing work both in San Francisco and Las Vegas. I am collaborating with artists in Las Vegas with exhibits and events.
professionally, i have worked as an art director and graphic designer for over 19 years and am currently a co-founder of a small start-up agency called okay creative. thank you for your concern. be well.
