Denise Weaver Ross

STATEMENT

My current work plays with layers of archetypes pulled from Egyptian tomb paintings, Tarot cards, and my own personal experience and combines them in the structure offered by the suite of hearts of traditional playing cards. This allows me to push and pull the images through the combined layers using color, transparency, texture, and contrast and speak visually about the multicultural / cross-cultural world in which I live while I reflect on my own personal life experience as wife, widow, mother, lover, sister, and friend.
