Inspiration from a affinity for non-western cultural symbols and organic artifacts of the great mystery, are the ancient visual river feeding my imagination. My process of restructuring this graphic language is to unlock the innate energy of these symbols in organic abstraction to ignite the subconscious. My art making process is of the moment and not premeditated with numerous sketching phases, acting as a conduit not a manipulator of the imagery flow. A viewer will enter into this textural environment where only the tension of all visual possibilities occur. Materials I use comprise a melange of oil bars, oil pastels, pastels, oil paint, and various marking implements. I compose this media mostly by finger-tips, hands some brushes and rags while using thinners, and acrylic glazes to achieve a rich painterly surface on archival paper, canvas, and wood panels.
Many artworks of mine shown here will be showcased at my booth #345 at Artexpo New York 2015 which will be held April 23-26 at Pier 94, hope to see you there!
