I was born in Jamaica, immigrating to Canada at age 9 where I spent the remainder of my childhood and formative adult years. I now live, work, and study in Florida. My work follows a Post Modern construct in that it is the idea that is most important to me, and though I work tirelessly to develop and improve skill, it is the idea for me that wins over all.
I respect the traditional mediums and processes of art making but am always looking for new ways to break and re-invent the rules. I like to experiment with different mediums, and in my work you will see me employ different mediums in realizing my ideas. The subject of my work focuses on issues of identity. I am interested in our perceptions of self, how we view the world and in turn how the world views us. I am most interested in the tension that exists between self and construct of self.
