My art is a reflection of the world as I see it, filled with beauty, elation, sadness and awe. A world whose inhabitants crave a sense of belonging yet often remain disconnected from all that surrounds them and consequently, each other. It is a world in which kaleidoscopic chaos is tempered by sublime order.
Using pencil as my medium and paper as my canvas I peel away the subject’s façade to reveal their hidden truths. Truths informed by their experiences, perceptions, and their relationship with the world and fellow man. By exposing this layer of allegory I challenge the viewer to examine and connect with the beings lay bare before them. Forms found within the subject’s skin reveal gentle clues, guiding the viewer on a path of discovery. Every glance turns another page. The colors reflect the subject’s emotional and spiritual essence, and they embody my perception of life, an entirely limitless spectrum that is provocative, thrilling, and sometimes alarming. The resulting work reveals a journey for me and my audience through a world of colorful chaos filled with energy, vitality, and true narrative complexity.
About the artist
Originally a fashion designer, Keith Gaspari attended the International Fine Arts College in Miami. He received several accolades including; the Concours International des Juenes Createurs de Mode, where his designs in fashion were featured in Paris’ Louvre Museum. He obtained a fine arts degree and moved to New York City where he worked under well known designers Joan Vass and Geoffrey Beene. Continuing to excel in his field Mr. Gaspari established his own affluent clientele and delivered a modest and well received line to the fashion runway. He continued to work in this field for over a decade, and then it became clear to him that he no longer wanted to create clothing that hid behind closet doors. He then began to immerse himself in creating a more personalized body of work, art that would not be hidden and brought out only on occasion. His portfolio currently includes an eclectic range of works from colored pencil portraits to home furnishing designs. Art is integral to the home. It nurtures both the heart and the soul. Whether it is on your walls or under your feet, Keith Gaspari believes it should all be a reflection of one’s inner light and love for life.
