Statement

Daren Chambers was born in the Bronx, New York of African American and Puerto Rican heritage.  He is a 3rd generation artist, born legally blind in his left eye.  Chambers knew he was an artist at six years old.  After studying art throughout high school Chambers later connected and fell in love with jazz music, a common theme in his early work. Chambers Jazz Formula paintings explode with striking colors and texture that represent the rhythm, movement and energy Chambers finds in his beloved jazz. Chambers has exhibited throughout the tri-state area.  His work is in public and private collections throughout the country.  With the advent of the Passages exhibition Chambers has begun to explore cultural themes associated with his Latin and African American heritage.    Solo Exhibitions 2009 New York Botanical Gardens "Black History Month Exhibtion", Bronx, NY. 2008 Harlem Revival Icreeupree presents "From a women’s point of view, "live painting and performance featuring " Jazz Formula" paintings New York, NY. 2008 Hennessy Presents “The Freedom” 5 Year Anniversary sponsored by Lyrics To Go Productions, “Hip Hop Portraits” of Lisa Lisa, Chubb Rock, Nice&Smooth and Slick Rick .Which were presented to all of the performers at this event at B.B.Kings, New York, NY. 2008 Live painting at the Lounge, New York, NY 2008 Apollo Theatre live painting with band, Planet Ubiqity, New York, NY 2007 Casafrela Gallery "Summer Jazz" jazz paintings NY. 2007 Big Apple Jazz "Jazz Formula" paintings New York, NY. 2007 Jadite Galleries "Jazz Formula" paintings New York, NY. 2007 Northeastern University Gallery, " The Souls of Black Folk Celebration of the Arts" Boston, NY. 2005 Savacou Gallery "Jazz Formula Exhibition" New York, NY. 2005 Jadite Galleries " Jazz Formula Exhibition" New York, NY. 2004 Washington Carver Bank, "Jazz Formula Exhibition, " New York, NY.
