Jan Tichy is a contemporary artist and educator who works with video, sculpture, architecture, and photography. Born in Prague in 1974, Tichy studied art in Israel before earning his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he is now Adjunct Professor at the Department of Art and Technology Studies. Tichy has had solo exhibitions at the MCA, Chicago; Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Richard Gray Gallery, Chicago; the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art,CCA Tel Aviv, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago and his work has been included in exhibitions in Basel, Berlin, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Jerusalem, Madrid, New York, Paris, Stockholm, Venice, and Washington, D.C. among others. He was awarded the 2010 Nathan Gottesdiener Prize of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. In 2011, Tichy created his largest installation to-‐date, Project Cabrini Green (2011), a community-‐based art project that illuminated with spoken word the last high rise building at the Cabrini Green
Housing Projects in Chicago during its month long demolition. Jan Tichi is represented by Richard Gray Gallery.
