printmaking/monotype painting abstract

Influenced by the aesthetic sensibilities of my mother, an artist and a seamstress, my work reflects the efforts of generations of artists whose work was dismissed as being purely decorative.  I present my love of shape, color, painterly textures and the tactile qualities of fabric, within a minimalist framework.  I am inspired by the artists Agnes Martin and Sol Lewitt and I am devoted to the further exploration of minimalism.

I was very fortunate to grow up with a mother who was a talented artist.  She encouraged me to explore art at a young age.  In the late 70’s I studied Fine Art at UCLA and I was influenced by my teacher Alexis Smith, as well as Laddie Dill and Chris Burden.  Upon graduating from UCLA I became interested in Graphic Arts.  Eventually, I started my own Graphic Design Firm and produced art ranging from brochures and logos to record covers and invitations.  In the mid-90’s I studied Textile Design and earned a 2-year extension degree at UCLA.  For 10 years I worked as a graphic artist and used my knowledge of these various disciplines.  Eventually, I went back to my roots as a fine artist. Presently, I am working on large scale mixed-media paintings.
