Statement

Chitti Kasemkitvatana was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He received his B.A. in Fine Art from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. From 1995 - 2001, He became actively involved in Bangkok art scene as artist, curator at About Studio/About Cafe, visiting lecturer, and co-editor of Ver magazine.

Solo exhibitions include TOMORROW WAS YESTERDAY, William Warren Library / The Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok, 2011; Touch the Ground, Project 304, Bangkok, Thailand (2000); when two become one / when 2 become 1, About Studio/About Café, Bangkok, Thailand (1997) and [ ... ], The Bangkok Playhouse, Bangkok, Thailand (1996).

Group exhibitions include Let’s Make Sense, Galerie West, 2011; With(in), Art In general, New York (2002), Alter Ego, Thai – EU Contemporary Art Project, Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (1999); A Step Before…Blissful Retreat, Moulden Art Project (MAP), Moulden, NT, Australia (1999); Cities on the Move, which traveled to Succession, Vienna, Austria, Musee d’art Contemporain de Bordeaux, France, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, Queens, NY, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Denmark, and Hayward Gallery, London, England (1997-99); and Do It: Thai Version, Bangkok University Art Gallery, Bangkok, Thailand (1996).

From 2003 - 2010, Kasemkitvatana left Bangkok to join a Thai Buddhist monastery in Northern Thailand. He is now an independent curator and artist based in Bangkok, Thailand.

In 2011, Chitti Kasemkitvatana received a grant from About Art Foundation, Thailand
