After receiving her BA at New York University’s Gallatin School for Independent Study, Emily Zimmerman acted in various roles for adventurous non-profit arts organizations in New York and Philadelphia, including Location One, Creative Time, and InLiquid. She received her MA from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in 2007. Emily is currently the assistant curator at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer, where she spearheads EMPAC’s film programming and lecture series. In 2011 Emily was awarded a curatorial residency at Space Bandee in Busan, Korea and was named a 2011-2012 Loris Ledis Curatorial Fellow at BRIC Contemporary Art, where she showed So To Speak in March of 2012. She is a Regional Editor for Contemporary Performance, a curatorial advisor to LaunchPad (Brooklyn), a co-curator of the Collar City Film Festival, and will be a curator-in-residence at Residency Unlimited in 2013.
