"Each of my paintings is an unique tactile expression of the passion I feel for nature. I use color, form, and texture as a means to interpret the extraordinary beauty I see all around me."
Originally experimenting with texture as both a challenge and as a means to minimize detail in her paintings, these 'two dimensional sculptures' soon became Jane's signature style. The texture, composition and unexpected color all work together in these evocative pieces, and seem to speak of simpler times.
In this latest series Jane minimizes realism and detail to create moving pieces through color and texture. She uses a layering process to create a thick surface over wood panels and completes the paintings with a heavy paste acrylic. The unique texture of each piece lends an organic feel to her paintings.
Recently, Jane has also returned to oil painting; she enjoys finding new ways to create texture within this medium.
Jane’s award-winning work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, and is internationally collected by both individuals and corporations.
Jane Hunt received her B.F.A. from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She continued her art education by experiencing art communities in France, England, Indonesia and China while studying various painting techniques. It was during these travels that she discovered her love of the more textural style of painting she works in today. Jane periodically takes classes at the Art Students League of Denver as well as being actively involved in the Daily Painting movement.
