ŠEPAT ZVONIMIR, a painter (Zagreb, 10 October 1951).
He finishes the School of Arts in 1971, and receives his degree from Pedagogy Academy in 1973 in Zagreb (M. Veža) and later, in 1985 he receives the degree from Pedagogy University in Rijeka (J. Diminić). At the beginning he paints realistically, but later he chooses lyric drawings enriched with colours (sequence of Blades of Grass, Clouds and Flowers). Within the net of lines of different density and with the discreet touches of aquarelle he builds the composition of intimate depth and modern envisaged space brought to the brim of purism (sequence of Awakened Karyatides and Christ’s Agony). With an oil painting technique he paints marines, coastline landscapes, still life and sequence of Zagreb’s veduttas (A Bay with Heather 1990; Hellebores with Pearls, 1992; Zrinjevac 1994). He also illustrates his own picture books for children.
He has exhibited in Croatia, Belgium, Germany, France and Bulgaria.
