Sand paintings abstract, Sand from the Sea of Cortes, Black sand painting painting, mixed-media, abstract, figurative

Born in Monterrey, Mexico I began at an early age with the practice of art. The solid, intense colors were my personal signature as opposed to the washed or pastel colors. During my childhood I began to show a great degree of attention to detail. My first works covered oil painting, water colors, collage and wood carving. I have always had a fascination for the raw materials that nature provides.

Restless is the word that best describes me. Creator, inventor, holder of a vivid imagination. To me it is more about black and white, high or low, strong contrasts. That is reflected on my art works. Lover and admirer of the outdoors and nature, that is where I find my materials and my inspiration.

Starting with one fine grain of sand, placing them together by the thousands, creating images, forms, feelings that is what sand painting represents to me

After 6 years living in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, in 2009 I discovered black sand and that inspired me to create my most recent works, playing with the contrasts the different colors of sand from the Sea of Cortes provide.

During my childhood I was impressed with the ancient art of sand painting of the Navajo Nation. Like them, I have created my own sand of different colors using colored rocks found around the region of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora and neighboring Arizona.

My works with sand, mainly abstracts, show my fascination for contrasts and details. In all of them I am seeking to keep a permanent equilibrium which will generate strong feelings and sensations on the viewer.

The sand dollar (Clypeasteroida), present on some of my paintings has become my personal seal.

I have participated in individual and collective exhibitions in Sonora, Mexico, Arizona and Paris, France.

My artworks have been acquired to decorate million dollar residences in Mexico, Arizona and Argentina..
