When I was a little, I felt some inspiration from old masterpiece paintings such as Rembrandt. I love classical painting. Tradition contains long history about truth story and personal perception. It is very much fascinated to me.
Since then, I dreamed to be a great figurative artist like them. So, I studied Fine Arts at Kyong Song University in Korea specialized in oil painting and watercolor. I paint in oils, mainly because I like the richness and depth of color that can be achieved in this medium. I want to tell story about people by using classical visual language. I have curious about what they are doing in this season or on this moment? I want to describe beautifully about that. In order to go to close them, I have worked focused on figure painting in tradition. Mostly, I paint from live models. I have tried to capture their features in my paintings through the considered natural flash skin color tone, value, and correct three-dimensional drawing form and space as well as constantly fresh challenges and demands adds to my interest in and excitement about painting. There are also two elements that interest in me most is light and color. I am constantly fascinated by the way that a certain quality of light radically alters the character and impact of a subject and makes it something unique. I think it is important to consider how much it looks natural and comfortable.
I constantly strive to reach the highest artistic plateaus to best active my goal.
I was bone in Bussan, South Korea in 1968. I got BFA degree from kyung Song University in Korea specialized in oil painting in 1990. I moved into United States in January, 2006 to serious study painting. Since then, I had studied in speaking English first in TX. I moved to New Jersey again in 2007 and still continually study in English. Since 2009; I have been study painting in National Academy Fine Arts in New York City for 4 years.
I studied figure oil painting, watercolor, pencil drawing, and human figure anatomy with great teachers such as Sharon Sprung, Nicki Orbach, Mary Beth, Henry Finkelstein, and Eric March. So I want to tell I am a New York based on artist.
