Carson Jay Pritchard
A native of southern California raised by two creative parents who surrounded her world
with art and design. Carson’s interest in art began early, as she spent a lot of time in her father’s
classroom at Art Center College in the early 60’s.
Carson followed as the third alum in her family to graduate from Art Center in 1978,
with a degree in graphic design. She worked for various prestigious design firms and decided to
start her own business in which she specialized in package design, graphics, and dinnerware.
She also followed her fathers footsteps and taught at Art Center College of Design for 15 years
and also The Academy of Art in San Francisco.
After successfully working in the field for several years, drawing and hand skills started being
replaced by computer programs. Her hidden desire to paint began to come to the surface
and she began to paint and take classes in 1998. The satisfaction from painting was something
she could not ignore and she decided to tie her design background and keen sense of color into
her new found love. Carson’s love for nature brought her canvas outside where she mainly paints
simple objects that tell a story, like an old red rusty tractor left in an open field.
She currently lives in Encino California with her husband and son and paints in Malibu and
also the beautiful northern California Coast
