Carson’s approach to art comes in a simple package; pure attraction to form and color. Through a lifetime of great highs and lows, art has remained the center of her passion. Impulsive movements emanate through her pieces and can be seen in the evolution of her craft. One might speculate that the inherent intelligence of nature’s spontaneity seems to be alive in Carson’s approach. This being said, Carson always creates with an idea in mind. Often coming as a flash of visual intuition, Carson uses this vision of the finished product to guide her through the process When asked what draws her towards art, she says, “It’s what I’m attracted to… at that moment.” This could explain why her career has encompassed many realms inside graphic design and fine art. Her paintings and sculptures move between the figurative, impressionistic, abstractions and are often a blend of many styles in one piece. She explains how her parents influenced her saying “Both my parents were heavily involved in Art Center College. My father was not only one of their first students, but also head of The Product Design Department. My mother, also a graduate, held a career in graphic design. As I child they taught me how to see and analyze.” She believes with the proper usage of these two skills, one can create the perfect results for just about anything. Carson Pritchard received a degree in graphic design in 1978 from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Carson founded Carson Pritchard Design in 1981 specializing in graphic and package design.
