Alejandro works with extinct pigments, those that have been cast out by the industries that created them, adding a variety of water-soluble mediums and other re-purposed materials, such as ground glass, mica, sand, carbon, wax and wood.  Since he was six years old, Alejandro has been exploring the alchemy of seemingly coincidental occurrences that lock a chain of events together into a new something.  It isn't about picturing, but about expression.

He was born in Medellín, Colombia in 1966, and in 1972 began studying art at the David Manzur Academy in Bogotá.  He arrived to the United States in 1982 and is now a citizen.  His paintings have been widely shown in the Western New York area, currently at the Albright-Knox and Art Dialogue galleries. He is the President of the Board of the Western New York Artists Group.
