About the Artist:
Gay Summer Rick, currently residing in Southern California, was born and raised in New York. The artist received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Alfred University's School of Art and Design in New York, and a Masters degree from the University of Puget Sound in Washington. Her work has transformed from painting and sculpting images on clay vessels, to layering oil paint on canvas using only palette knives. She creates unexpected vibration in the juxtaposition of color and light. Moved by raw coastal and urban beauty, the artist's melding of Impressionist, Abstract Color Field, and Expressionist influences reflect the color, light and atmosphere of her dynamic environment.
