Painting envelopes me like the threads of a cocoon. And as a cocoon provides a safe place for a caterpillar to transform, painting allows me a safe place to examine myself and mankind.
Unlike the lens of a camera that objectively documents a moment in time and space, I subjectively comment on moments and people via simplistic lines, shapes, values, and textures in bright colors. I invite viewers to observe and consider the psychological, sociological, or emotional complexities of race, gender, age, and culture.
