As a visual artist who also loves to dance, no matter what type of art I am make, it seems to always be inspired by movement. One of the most recent manifestations of this is when I put charcoal or graphite on my feet and dance across large sheets of paper, merging these two passions into one creative process
My work takes on many different forms, including drawing, dancing, printing, collaging, sewing, building, installing, and performing. This allows me to explore all the many facets of the creative process. Sometimes I work large and aggressively, creating celestial landscapes that draw the viewer in. At other times, I work small and intimately, layering and reexamining the subtle transformation of past inspirations. Once I choose a medium, it becomes like an improvisational dance; I never know what will come next. I am constantly pushing and pulling, reworking, and layering. I bring clarity to the chaos.
