Statement

JOSINA DEN BURGER / JOSINA BURGESS

Professional painter, working from Amsterdam/Duivendrecht. Member of the Thorbecke Foundation. Co-Founder of C.A.R.P Cybernetic Art Research Projects, developing New Art in the Metaverse (Virtuel World) since 5 years. Co-writer of the Metaverse Art Books.

Besides all this I work on canvas and other media as well and this a lot longer. Exhibitions in several museums and galleries in for example: Hungary, France, the Netherlands. Works are also displayed in homes and offices in England and the USA.

Studied at the Famous Artist Schools of America, got my papers in 1967 and started singing. ( Sing education at Beb Ogterop) 30 years a professional singer, (first female protest singer in Holland in the years 60-70). After that mainly Jazz. Had my own band, several records and performed worldwide in tv and radio shows. In the Netherlands I had my own tv-show (José b.b.h.h) in the seventies.

After slowly phasing out my career as a singer I was asked to carry out wedding ceremonies in Amsterdam. This opened a total new perspective, in line with the singing. I could use my experience in associating with all kinds of people, backgrounds and cultures. The result was that I also was asked to carry out wedding ceremonies in several cities in the rest of the Netherlands and even abroad.

Painting and being a registrar, both are forms of expression, one (painting) is something you do alone, the other (weddings) is something you do together.

Both give me positive energy with a great outcome for me. My paintings are often inspired by this positive energy I get from happy people.

VIRTUAL ART / CYBERNETIC OR DIGITAL

In the end of 2006 I started working virtual, looking for new possibilities in the metaverse. Experimenting with New Art, building hyperformal, animated and interactive sculptures, Founded C.A.R.P (Cybernatic Art Research Projects) together with Lazlo Oerdoegh a Hungarian Professor and started working together with international artists from all over the globe, co-wrote several books about Art in the Metaverse, created new Theatrical shows and performences were developed with the team, like the WALL, The RINGS, Metropolis, V-Jazz and much more.
