Abraham Ritchie holds a Master of Arts in New Art Journalism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he was also a Trustee Scholar, a twice participant in the Stone Summer Theory Institute and received the Departmental Fellowship award from the New Art Journalism Department. He received his undergraduate degree in Art History from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2006.
Abraham joined ArtSlant in 2008 as the Chicago City Editor. He built the Chicago team and established ArtSlant as a major arts resource and portal in the Chicago art scene. In 2011, Abraham took over the GEOslant blog as well as expanded his editorial duties with ArtSlant to include their Paris edition.
Abraham has written on the arts for a myriad of media outlets, from local to international. He has written for the National Endowment for the Arts, the United Kingdom's Spectator and Madison Newspapers, Inc., both in print and online. Abraham's opinions and commentary have been featured on Chicago Tonight, Chicago's WBEZ 91.5 FM, WGN 720 AM, in the Chicago Tribune, Art21 and the art podcast Bad at Sports. He is the administrator of The Chicago Art Blog, which was featured in Chicago's Best Blogs. The Chicago Art Blog was eventually picked up by Tribune Media Inc. for their ChicagoNow site, though he has since directed his efforts elsewhere. In addition to his many Editorial duties for ArtSlant, Inc., Abraham still occasionally writes for Chicago's NewCity paper.
