Statement

Randy Figures is a Bay Area native who grew up in the Santa Clara Valley.  After a tour of duty in the US Navy, Randy lived in Norfolk, Virginia where he learned custom framing, artwork handling, and gallery operations at Virginia Images Gallery and Palmer-Rae Gallery, which he later purchased and operated in downtown Norfolk.  He moved to San Francisco in 1999, where he currently manages Back to the Picture and Back to the Picture/SoMa, two custom frame shops with onsite art galleries.

From June, 2008 through December, 2010, he volunteered as founding curator for ART 94124 Gallery, an all-volunteer-operated community gallery in San Francisco's Bayview/Hunters Point district.  During his tenure as ART 94124 curator, ART 94124 executed an aggressive exhibition schedule of 15 group exhibits, featuring over 100 artists, all within keeping of the organization's mission to build community through art.

Recommended art resources
ArtTours: Precita Eyes
Mission Mural tours introduce you to the distinct local Mission District style which continues to develop over the years. Precita Eyes is a great local resource to get you acquainted with many of San Francisco's public art projects.
Other: Public Glass
Public Glass is San Francisco's only non-profit studio and school for glass art. Those who are interested in glass as a medium for art can learn at Public Glass. They also have open house events to introduce the public to their organization. Definitely check it out!
Other: Hunters Point Shipyard Artists
This is a great collective of artists occupying some of the Navy's old decommissioned buildings on the site of the defunct Hunters Point Shipyard. A visit to Hunters Point Shipyard will inspire you to create interesting and unique group exhibits. It's also a great place to purchase artwork directly from artists in the studio setting.
