TOMORROW becomes YESTERDAY unless you do something with TODAY. My Kin Folk, MY Cousins, MY People Eye, believe this is absolutely the right time and the ideal platform for a non-apologetic, heavy-hitting re-examination of how we allow our Image to be used and portrayed, how we Black Folk view Black History and how we need to celebrate Black History Month 365 days of the YEAR. This sample of work will attempt to truthfully spur the viewer towards genuine reflective action. Fine Art is one of the most important tools we have for preserving a culture's most valuable and cherished stories. It can also call reflective viewers to action. The work in this slide show exhibition seeks to encourage viewers, particularly it's BLACK audience, to return to our people's Historic Camaraderie, Trust, Faith, Struggle and Perseverance in the face of this not so NEW, and not so unfamiliar revamped contemporary assault to dimiss our culture as SUB-PAR.
With a renewed objective and fresh voice, Fine Art can and must be the tool used by US for US in preserving and protecting our own Icons and our cultures most valuable and cherished stories. So yea eye am saying it, because they picked, ran, fought, marched and died too say it, and most importantly eye hope the VIEWING audience OF THIS PAGE can and will begin to say it too.
