Sabin Aell

BIOGRAPHY

Sabin Aell is an international award-winning artist and multi media designer. Born and grown up in Austria her resume includes international exhibits in Berlin, London, Seoul, Adelaide, Stockholm and Vienna. Her media as an artist ranges from photography, installation to mixed media to film.

Interactively creative in building online experiences for some of the world’s most recognized companies, Sabin Aell is an expert in concept and strategy development for large intranet & internet applications. As Creative Director, Sabin led creative development for clients, including Mercedes-Benz, Daimler Chrysler, IBM and Dresdner Bank.

After living in Linz, Vienna and Frankfurt, Sabin moved to Denver in 2006. Early 2008 she opened HINTERLAND (hinterlandartspace.com), an art event space, where she curates and exhibits adventurous contemporary art.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

"Contrasts attract me. I love to bring apparently unrelated elements together. In doing so, a resonance is triggered and the opposing elements start to form an alliance. Such symbioses may irritate, provoke or make one feel really, really good. It is a fervent play with concealed meaning and a language other than words. I am a player between the zones of the seen and the unseen.

Finding beauty where beauty is not expected is a blast. My series - "Verreisser" - captured the breakdown and death of my old Mac Book Pro. The screen went black for a second and then visually exploded into incredibly beautiful color-changing pixelated patterns. I pulled out my camera and photographed the orgasm of dying before the screen went black forever. I witnessed a shift in focus, and experienced death as an extension of life. 

New and old techniques, technologies, the endless variety of materials and media thrills me. It is again the contrast and the use and handling of different textures and substances which tease and lure me into their world where loose molecules are floating around, waiting to be touched, connected and forged into something else. 

Art and creating makes me euphoric, sweps me deeper into a wild and limitless Happywonderland. I am a player, a composer, a wiggler a shaker - whatever I want to be I am. Art is The New, The Different, The Excitement. What will I find today? Where will the now carry me? Now is forever and forever expanding. Now is the only true place to be in. 

My work vibrates. It tells you a story, it reflects your desires. I am talking to you in the language beyond words. My world can be yours and yours can be mine - we can be co-creators."
