Tau!
I was born in NY and had a love affair with crayons, markers, pencils when I was very little-my parents encouraged that artistic part of me and it was further nutured by one of my older siblings who was also an artist herself.
I eventually moved to CT where I discovered the natural world and enjoyed spending hours outside exploring and learning about the world around me. Being a native Taino Indian as well it also felt "right"-knowing I was so close to Creator and my parents made sure that I was able to honor the old ways while walking in the modern world as well. As the childhood years fell aside to adult life I also discovered that many native people were "lost" and so desperately looking to reconnect to their past-one aspect that I had taken for granted but it also allowed me to meet other people of other tribes such as the Micmac, Cherokee and Lakota.
It was through these meetings which grew into friendships that I began to explore other areas of expressions in native art and as a result Taino Artistry was born. I have been creating art all my life, but have grown to encompass so many aspects of native life that much of my artwork reflects these little "glimpses" into being a native person today and of yesterday. The Creator gave me an incredible gift and passion for art-and I pray that you enjoy the artwork as much as I did creating it.
Bo Matum (thank you)
