Statement

Inspired by my fascination with nature, I juxtapose birds, fish, shells, flowers, people, and landscapes in a variety of environments, offering viewers a glimpse into my dreams and imagination. My work expresses the beauty and nobility I see within all life, no matter at what level it may occur. My paintings capture a delicacy, and at the same time, a boldness in form.

For me, painting always begins with intense observation of the subject matter. This began as a child, when I would find myself mesmerized by the beauty of the cherry blossoms in my grandfather’s backyard. Every flower caught my attention and each falling petal fired my imagination. The blossoms created a fantasy world. There is a magical world that I discover whenever the sun catches each petal of a cherry blossom

My artist eye is always filled with such wonder when I really admire the beauty of nature and my surroundings.  I try to find beauty wherever I look.  Whether it is a rusty New York City stairway, or a wall that has peeled paint that gives the illusion of the ancient world.  The imperfections of nature is beauty in my vision.  Each petal or leaf is unique and different.  I am captured by it’s shape, color, and movement.
