I was born and raised in Lancashire in the U.K, and have always been interested in expressing myself with paint or pencil since day one. My mother inspired me to ask questions about the physical and spiritual world, my father on the other hand, the eternal pragmatist, kept me grounded. and so with the influences of these two people I ventured into the world of art.
I chose not to go into formal art trainin, electing instead to finding my own path and developing a personal style of my own.
I have been a commercial artist for approximately 20 years and have sold paintings and prints throughout the U.K.
I produce both traditional and contemporary art. I am a member of Blackburn Art Soc and also a member of the Haworth Artist Network, situated in Accrington, Lancashire.
I kicked off my career painting fire surrounds to look like marble and have also dabbled at decorating furniture. I have exhibited in numerous open exhibitions including the Haworth, the Brownedge festival in Leyland, Blackburn museum and art gallery, and The Ribble Valley open exhibition, winning prizes and commendations.
Inspiration is taken from the natural world, encompassing cultural diversities and philosophies. My subjects range from narrative to abstract, still life, fantasy and nature, with my portaiture being my first love.
The materials I use are also diverse; though mainly acrylic on canvas, I combine this with a wide variety of interesting textures.
My philosophy:- Enjoy your painting and don"t be afraid to experiment.
