Born 1975 in Guangzhou, the People's Republic of China, I grew up in Oakland, California. I am a conceptual artist who has worked with the weight of names, mostly in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. I meditate on women's roles as they interface with the visual mechanisms of business, art, and culture.
"Ukiyo Morisake" is a medium to explore shifting identity politics. I am interested in the cross pollination of edge, mass and luxury aesthetics in the global and digital economy. I critique mass culture through the theorized lens of fine art. I travel throughout various subcultures to find the source of style and I follow the philosophy of A Thousand Plateaus.
